DESCRIPTION:This course is ideal for Building Designers who have responsibility for planning and designing buildings and facilities\, as well as those who are required to provide advice to others regarding access and Universal Design in the built environment. The course also supports students with leading an access consulting team or operating an access consulting business. \nDates and Times: Delivered Live Online via Zoom: 28\, 29\, 30 August\, 4\, 5\, 17\, 19\, 20\, 23\, 24 September 2024 10.00am – 5.00pm\, Melbourne Time. \nThe aim of the course is to provide students with the highest-level premium nationally recognised qualification as an Access Consultant. The course provides students with the skills required to become an effective Access Consultant in an ever growing\, lucrative and interesting field of work. \nThe course is delivered live online via Zoom by access industry experts with specialist training skills. There is plenty of time for discussion and questions\, with more than 30 years of practical expertise shared by trainers. 25 nationally recognised units of competency are included\, and a twelve-month time frame is provided for completion of course work\, although many students complete prior to this\, depending on their individual work and personal circumstances. \nThe course incorporates the latest changes to relevant legislation and the newest thinking regarding adoption of the principles of Universal Design in the built and service environment. It also provides the basis for a comprehensive understanding of the reasons behind the legislation and standards and the principles of Universal Design\, – the ‘Why’s’ of Access – relating to the function and use of buildings\, facilities\, and services. \nThis course has been specifically Building Designers and candidates must be able to demonstrate Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) for at least one specific Unit of Competency i.e.\, Read and Interpret Plans. Candidates can also apply for additional RPL or Credit transfer based on their individual skills\, existing qualifications\, and experience. \nNote: There must be a minimum number of enrolments received by Access Institute\, 2 weeks prior to course commencement\, in order for this course to proceed. This number varies according to the course type and location. \nConfirmation that a course will or will not proceed as scheduled\, will be provided to each enrolled student\, via email\, no later than 2 weeks prior to course commencement date.

SUMMARY:Changing Places Assessor (Accessible Adult Change Facility) Course - 3 hours
DESCRIPTION:The lack of accessible adult change facilities creates major issues for people who need specialised equipment to go to the toilet when they are away from home. Carers often resort to using the floor of an accessible toilet\, as the space for changing and toileting those they support\, which is both inequitable and abhorrent. \nThis course is for professionals who wish to understand and apply the Changing Places Design Specifications 2020 and those who wish to become registered as a Changing Places Assessor\, who can undertake assessments of Changing Places (Accessible Adult Change Facilities – AACF)\, to confirm that designs or As – built structures\, comply with Changing Places Design Specifications and the requirements of the National Construction Code (NCC) for Accessible Adult Change facilities. (AACF). \nThe course provides relevant information regarding design\, development and assessment of these facilities. It is a requirement for a person to undertake this course if they wish to issue a Certificate of Compliance for a Changing Places facility. \nIn addition to attending the course\, eligible participants who meet relevant prerequisites in their specified profession\, will also be required to undertake an online\, open book exam to be eligible to register as a Changing Places Assessor. \nCourse Fee: $550.00 (plus GST) per person includes course delivery\, issuing of relevant Certificates\, issuing of relevant assessment documentation\, verification of Specified Professional prerequisites and initial Assessor Registration. \nDates and Times:\nThe are no Changing Places Assessor Course available at this time.
